Magic fountains of Barcelona

A weekly music light show takes place, illuminating the whole mountainside and the Palau Nacional, that is located directly behind the fountains, takes place in the heart of Barcelona. With 29 water arrangements in 8 different colours, almost 5,000 lights and a water capacity of 3.1 million litres of water, the fountain with music and light show is truly a highlight of Barcelona.

When work on the Great Universal Exhibition of 1929 was well under way, the organizers felt that it needed that “something” special to make it a cut above the rest. That was when Carles Buigas submitted his project for a “colossal, daring and costly piece of work”.
